Dr. Julia Schoonover

Dr. Julia Schoonover is an accomplished sociologist with broad international experience. Recently a Visiting Professor at the University at Buffalo – Singapore Institute of Management (Singapore), she taught courses on Wealth and Poverty, Classical Sociological Theories, and the Sociology of Immigration. She also served as the Head of Independent Study at the University at Buffalo (United Kingdom) CAPA Global Education, overseeing studies in International Relations, Sociology, Communications, and Business. As an Instructor of Record at the University at Buffalo (USA) Department of Sociology, Dr. Schoonover taught courses in Criminology, Introduction to Sociology, Sociology of Inequality, Sociology of Wealth and Poverty, and Social Change. Earlier in her career, she contributed as a Teaching Assistant, offering support in various sociology courses. Dr. Schoonover excels in both qualitative (Interviews, Focus Groups, Participant Observation; Nvivo; Atlas. Ti, etc.) and quantitative (Survey Analysis; Excel; STATA, etc.) research methods, using these skills in projects like the Scandinavian Prison Project, New York State's Mobile Market Initiative, and research on public perceptions in Singapore. Her academic journey reflects a strong commitment to teaching, research, and community engagement, making significant contributions to sociology.
